Weekend Team
The Weekend Team exists to provide custodial care over the Tower Grove sanctuary building and entrance areas.
Responsibilities
I serve as the Journey Kids Site Director at West County. In this role I cover all scheduling, training, community building, recruiting, and vision
casting.
Family
Jonathan and I got married the month before The Journey launched (2002). We now have two friendly, smiley, talkative daughters; Joelle (2003) and Corrie (2006). But my family continues to grow as I serve the kids on Sunday!
What the Journey Has Meant To You
The Journey is our family here is St. Louis. The people here have taught us how to have true, authentic community and I feel blessed that they have poured so much into our lives the past 5 years. God still speaks to me through the many sermons I have listened to and the many people I have relationships with.
Quote or Advice
Believe the best about each other and wade through the worst.
What You Enjoy
I love good quality time with my family. Jonathan and I have always enjoyed dancing (swing and salsa are our favorites). Though in dancing, be prepared to work through marital issues…you are bound to step on each other’s toes.
I love all kinds of food. I enjoy cooking and trying new things at restaurants. I would love to take culinary classes some day.
I also have a love for the water and now so do my girls. We spend most of the summer at the pool and like to vacation near lakes or rivers.
Where You Grew Up and What You Did As a Kid
I grew up in Liberty, MO and have 3 younger brothers. I played with baby dolls way too long and loved playing sports with my brothers. As a family we went camping a lot and I loved getting involved in our church. In high school, I ran track and cross country and made money as a babysitter and working at Blockbuster.
Favorite Reads or Films
I am sorry to say that I am not much of a reader of fiction or theology, but I love books that speak about parenting, marriage, hospitality and leadership. I am enjoying How Children Raise Parents by Dan B. Allender, Ph.D. right now.
Hope for The Journey
That we can walk with families as we lead and engage our kids into an authentic, life-changing encounter with the gospel. In years to come, these kids will be shining their lights throughout St. Louis.
Yada, Yada, Yada
I have a hidden love for American Sign Language and signing worship songs. It is a way for me to connect with God.
