Jamie Beckemeier

Jamie Beckemeier pictureResponsibilities:
I am the Director of Community Groups

Family:
I am blessed to have my entire family at The Journey. My husband of 37 years, Lynn, who faithfully serves by my side in the Community Group Ministry. My daughter Casey, her husband Michael and three children Jimmy, Julie & Jamie Joy; my son Jim and his wife Megan; and my daughter Kelly, her husband Shane and their baby daughter Emery Grace.

What The Journey Has Meant To You:
At the Journey Lynn and I have been given the opportunity to be able to fulfill our dream of working within the church to connect people to biblical community and help them mature in their relationship with Christ.

Quote or Advice:
"If we hear, in our inner ear, a voice saying we are failures, we are losers, we will never amount to anything, this is the voice of Satan trying to convince the bride that the groom does not love her. This is not the voice of God. God woos us with kindness; He changes our character with the passion of His love." Donald Miller

What You Enjoy:
Seeing people become leaders in God's kingdom, not cooking, serving in ministry with my husband, grandchildren, shopping with my girls, trips to Marco Island, Florida with my family, decorating, making floral arranging, and reading.

Where You Grew Up and What You Did As a Kid:
I grew up with my two younger brothers in Tarzana, California, so that makes me an original Valley Girl...like totally for sure.

Favorite Reads or Films:

I love reading and enjoy a wide variety of authors, subjects and genres.  Sadly, I don't have as much time to read as I would like.

Movies: The Bourne Ultimatum, I thoroughly enjoyed it but forget what it was about.

Hope for The Journey:
I hope that the Journey will be a church OF community groups, not just a church WITH community groups, a church where people are not only accepted and loved, but are radically transformed by the powerful message of the Gospel...that we are more sinful than we ever imagined, but more loved than we ever dreamed possible.
