  • Family
Married to the love of my life and my best friend, Megan. We live in University City. My parents, Rusty and Diane Irwin, still live in Chesterfield, MO where I was born and raised. My mom had her hands full with raising 4 rambunctious boys while my dad worked as a bio-organic chemical engineer. They just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. My 2 older brothers, Doug and Jeff, are both married and have two kids each. My fraternal twin brother Greg is married and has a daughter. Megan and I don't have any kids yet. All my brothers claim to be best-looking Irwin man. My wife, who is in no way biased, assures me that I objectively am.

Questions

  • What is your favorite bible verse?
Romans 5:8 "God demonstrates his love for us in this - while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
  • What is following Jesus like these days?
t's a battle to continually trust that God's grace is greater than my sin. I need God more than ever. I need his holiness. I need his wisdom. I need his power. I need his humility. I love the Lord and I love to serve Him and His people at The Journey. Some days, God feels close and alive and present. Other days, He feels foreign or far-off. His Word is a comfort to me. It revives my hope and orients my life. It helps me to repent and re-embrace the Gospel. The Holy Spirit is a treasure to me. He reminds me of God's love and power. I love Christ and daily share my hopes and fears with Him. I often feel incompetent for the work ahead. I am grateful that God works in us and through us, often despite us. I am grateful that His grace is sufficient for us and his power is made perfect in our weakness. Lately, I have been learning about listening to God and expecting Him to speak - primarily in His Word, but also in prayer. I am learning about conversational and unceasing prayer. It has been a rich time for me and my wife.
  • How long have you been at The Journey?
Coming up on 4 years. We started attending in October of 2006, right after we moved to St. Louis so that I could attend seminary at Covenant.

Favorites

  • Here are a few of my favorites: Restaurant: Fancy - The Sidney Street Cafe. Get the filet mignon with lobster, covered in bernaise sauce. It will change your life. This is my birthday dinner and will be until the day I die. Restaurant: Lunch - Farmhaus. Blue plate special. Unreal. Restaurant: Cheap - La Vallesana. Cherokee and California. Pollo tortas and horchata. Sports Team: St. Louis Cardinals since as long as I can remember. If you are looking to give away some tickets, call me. Seriously. Call me. Type of Bear: there are two schools of thought... wrong, black bear. Actually, polar bears. I want a polar bear for a pet. I feel like we could be friends. Megan thinks I am crazy. She doesn't know.
