Questions

  • What is your favorite bible verse?
Isaiah 41:10- "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
  • What is following Jesus like these days?
It's comforting to know that this world is not all there is and that even though I don't have it all together, I'm loved, accepted, being sanctified, and always welcome to re-surrender my own agenda and schemes to rest in His.
  • How long have you been at The Journey?
I began attending in fall of 2005, and started working here January of 2010.
  • What ministry are you involved in?
I work mostly with the weekend worship service volunteer teams - the Welcome Team, the Coffee Team, the Response Team (Communion & Offering), and the SSU team. As Campus Director, I am the connective tissue between all of the Tower Grove ministries. In addition, I co-lead the Hamilton Heights Mission St. Louis team, and occasionally run sound for my husband Jeremy when he's leading worship at our Hanley Road campus.
  • What is hard and/or good about serving at The Journey?
I love seeing people catch a vision and begin owning and leading those around them. With so many needs in a broken city and a church with broken people, I love the opportunity to help people step into this kind of responsibility. Yet because the city and we as people are broken, this opportunity which I love is also very hard.

Favorites

  • My favorite place to go is camping.
  • My favorite time of year is early fall, when it's still warm enough to wear a T-shirt during the day, but the humidity has dropped and in the evenings the air smells like burning leaves...When the thunderstorms bring cool fronts and sparkly sunny football weather.

So, Tell Me...

  • What have you done that others would not have expected, to look at you? I worked as a commercial carpenter/millwright/pile driver for a couple years before working for The Journey.
  • What is your most memorable travel experience? We recently returned from our honeymoon in Colorado where we hiked McCullough Gulch, Mosquito Gulch, Green Mountain, and hiked up and slid down St. Mary's Glacier. Jeremy and I spent 7 glorious days on our own in Breckenridge, Frisco, Alma, Fairplay, and Copper, and finished off the trip with 2 hilarious days in and around Denver with Jeremy's brothers Kyle and Jacob.
