Journey Outdoors: Coed Volleyball
The Journey Outdoors recreational coed volleyball team is full!
Journey Outdoors is going on a River/Climbing Trip to the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. The Buffalo was the first river to receive federal protection and is managed by the National Park Service. For more information about the area visit http://www.nps.gov/buff/index.htm.Here are the details.
Dates: March 15th - March 19th, 2008

Cost:
Canoe Rental: $25* per person
Gas: $30* (if you carpool with 2 other people)
Camping fees: $15*
Food: $50* (excludes travel meals)
Total: $120*

Trip Itinerary:
Saturday, March 15
9:00am Meet at Tower Grove
@3:00pm Arrive Horseshoe Canyon Ranch
Set-up Camp
Sunday, March 16
Climb at Horseshoe Canyon (Frisbee Golf and Horseback Riding also available)
Sunday evening we will prepare for river trip.
Monday, March 17
Begin trip from Ponca, AR @10:00am
Campout at Erbie Campground
Tuesday, March 18
Paddle from Erbie to Pruitt Landing
Camp at Kyles Landing
Wednesday, March 19
Depart for St. Louis
Experience: One experienced paddler per canoe (Buffalo is Class I and Class II water)
Required Equipment (need to have/borrow the follow items):
[ ] Waterproof bag to carry personal clothing and equipment (Dry bags work great but backpack lined with a trash bag works fine)
[ ] Straps or rope for lashing gear to the canoe
[ ] Personal First Aid Kit (click link for suggested contents Lightweight First Aid Kit.)
[ ] Hat
[ ] Wool stocking cap
[ ] Windbreaker
[ ] Rain gear (jacket and pants)
[ ] Shorts and/or swimsuit
[ ] T-shirt
[ ] Wool or pile shirts
[ ] Wool or synthetic long underwear
[ ] Underwear
[ ] Synthetic fill or down jacket
[ ] Dry pair of shoes and clothing for in camp
[ ] Shoes or Sandals for the river (will get wet)
[ ] Gloves
[ ] Sleeping bag
[ ] Sleeping pad
[ ] Tarp or ground cloth
[ ] Tent (backpacking size 2-4 people) with poles, stakes, etc.
[ ] Flashlight, with spare batteries and bulb
[ ] Eating utensils (cup, spoon, plate, etc.)
[ ] Notebook and pen
[ ] Knife and matches (best if carried on your person)
[ ] Water bottle
[ ] Insect repellent
[ ] ChapStick
[ ] Sunblock
[ ] Personal items (toothbrush/paste, lotion, glasses/contacts, towel/washcloth, biodegradable soap)
[ ] Propane or gas stoves if fires are not used, with fuel (can share with someone)
