Training Camp Curriculum

Document Download:

Spiritual disciplines are generally misunderstood in our culture. When people in the church hear the term spiritual discipline, they almost immediately go in their minds to the idea of impossibility or passivity. Disciplines seem impossible because they require DISCIPLINE! Most of us hate discipline. As humans, most of us generally rebel against discipline because we view spiritual disciplines like most children view the discipline of a parent. A spanking is something to be avoided at all costs because it is painful and restricts us from doing the things we really want to do. Join us in a five week study as we go to Training Camp, pursuing and practicing spiritual disciplines as a church. It won’t be easy. It might not be pretty. But it will be worth it. Are you ready?

Divorce and Remarriage

Document Download:

Much debate and confusion surrounds the topic of divorce and remarriage. With the divorce rate consistently around fifty percent each year, divorce has become a common and normal expectation for troubled marriages. Yet God's word, revealed to us in the Bible, states there is nothing normal or common about two people divorcing each other. The church has historically taught opposition to divorce, yet the divorce rate among Christians is equivalent to or higher than the rate of divorce among people who do not profess to be Christians. One reason for the enduing high rate of divorce is a lack of understanding about biblical marriage...

Welcome to West County

The Journey is one church with multiple campuses. Because The Journey believes in being a neighborhood church and is committed to ministering to and serving in its surrounding neighborhoods, we meet at multiple locations across the metro area of St. Louis. The Journey *_West County_* campus held its first service in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center Auditorium at Missouri Baptist University in February 2007, making it the 3rd (of our now 4) campuses. In September 2010, we moved to our new building located at 625 Meramec Station Road, Manchester, MO 63021.

Welcome to Tower Grove

The Journey is one church with multiple campuses. Each campus its committed to ministering to and serving in its surrounding neighborhoods. The Journey Tower Grove campus is a diverse community of individuals who have abandoned the notion that life can and should be lived in isolation. We express ourselves uniquely and are united by our relationship with Christ. The Journey is not a 'church' the way our society defines it. Church is not something we "do." Church is something we are. We are not a group of persons who is merely united by similar interests and activities.

Welcome to Belleville

Thanks for visiting The Journey: Belleville campus page.

Welcome to Hanley Road

The Journey Hanley Road Campus is multi-generational and diverse. From folks who helped launch the Church, to rows full of college students; from deeply commited followers of Christ, to those just beginning to investige the claims of the gospel: All are welcome. Our hope is that all feel respected, dignified and heard. Authentic community and intimacy are the hallmarks of our time together. Our chief aim is to be a community which seeks to please God. This happens in many and varied ways - from our Sunday worship service led by a dedicated team of Christ worshippers, to our liturgical expressions and administering of the sacrament of Communion, to our increasing devotion to the knowledge of our Creator through the exposition of the Bible.

Leadership Structure

Elders are the leaders of the church who in the Bible are also called pastors, bishops, and overseers (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 5:2). The elders are men chosen for their ministry according to clear biblical requirements (1 Timothy 2:11-3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). The elders are always spoken of in plurality because God intends for more than one man to lead and rule over the church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The elders’ duties include ruling (1 Timothy 5:17), (1 Timothy 3:4-5), (1 Peter 5:2-5), (Hebrews 13:17), (Hebrews 13:7), (Acts 20:28), (Ephesians 4:11, 1 Timothy 3:2), (1 Timothy 5:17), (Titus 1:9), (Matthew 18:15-17).

Become A Member

Here at The Journey we take church membership very seriously. We do not view membership as simply being on some list in the church office. Membership is about joining a family that is united in belief and purpose in order to experience Christ and share Him with the world. Members at The Journey are united theologically. We share common views about God and his Word. We are also united in our mission and philosophy, which stem from our theology, and justify our existence as a local church. Finally, our values lead us to be united in our mission to St. Louis and to the world. Members fight for unity so that we can faithfully live out the Gospel together for the sake of the world. Membership is our pathway to unity. Membership is also the pathway for people to be equipped.
